Email Marketing

Email marketing is a marketing method that uses email as a medium. It’s used to send promotional or educational messages to subscribers on an email list.


Friction describes any element on your website that can annoy or confuse visitors, causing them to leave. Examples include distracting colors, complicated layouts, or slow web pages.

Google Analytics

This is a free tool from Google that allows you to measure every aspect of your website’s performance, from traffic to conversions.


Hashtags are a way of grouping content (often on social media) based on a common theme. It helps users search and discover new content much easier.

A keyword is the word or words that people use when searching for something on search engines like Google.

Mobile Marketing

Mobile marketing is any marketing campaign that’s optimized for the smaller screens and user interfaces of mobile devices. It also includes using geodata to localize and personalize marketing to mobile users.


NPS, short for Net Promoter Score, is a measure of how likely a person will recommend your product or service to other people. It’s one of the metrics used to quantify user satisfaction.


An offer is any content that is valuable to your customer, either paid or free. In the context of marketing, the offer is usually the product or service you’re selling, plus any related items (discounts, add-ons, etc.).


PPC, or Pay Per Click, is a paid advertising model where you only pay whenever a user clicks on your ad.

Qualified Lead

A qualified lead is any lead that has permitted you to send them more marketing materials because they want to learn more about your products or services.


Remarketing is a technique of targeting marketing campaigns to people who have previously interacted with your brand. You can, for example, show ads only to site visitors who have added products to their shopping cart but did not finalize their purchase.


SEO, or Search Engine Optimization, is the collection of strategies and tactics to make a web page appear as the top item on a search engine’s results page.


Top-of-the-funnel (TOFU) refers to the first stage of the buying process where people are researching and sourcing information about a problem they have. Creating valuable content that helps them with their problem is an integral part of TOFU marketing.


User Experience (UX) describes the general feeling a customer has when interacting with every aspect of your brand, product, or service.


To go viral means that a piece of content is so valuable that many people can’t help but share it with others.

Word of Mouth Advertising

Similar to viral content, word of mouth advertising is when people love your product or service so much they recommend it to their family and friends. It’s a highly effective (if elusive) marketing goal that every brand aspires to.
